Kid friendly cities can be found all over the world. They usually provide a wide range of family activities, some of them educational and others just plain fun. They are easy to get navigate, either on public transport or your own vehicle. And practically the majority of kid friendly cities are fairly affordable.

If we talk about kid friendly cities of the USA, we should mention San Diego. The Wild Animal Park in San Diego is really worth seen. A popular sleepover program called “Roar & Snore” that helps make the southern California city one of the best places in America for a family vacation. You’ll find lots of interesting sights and activities in San Diego. There are several theme parks, unlimited outdoor sports, big league ball teams, Balboa Park with all its museums, and certainly a wonderful beach.

You can also visit Orlando with its amusement parks or Washington, D.C. with all that civics and history, or New York with all the Big Apple.

Another place to talk about is Chicago. There are no theme parks or world-famous landmarks, but though it can be called a kidfriendly city. Surely it depends on the interests of a certain of child, but for some children, that can appreciate world-class art, incredible architecture and iconic American sports team, Chicago is a good choice. The Art Institute, the Cubs at Wrigley, the Skywalk on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Building can also impress the children. You’ll see elevated trains, water taxis and more than a hundred miles of bike paths. The city’s tourist office has created a special interactive audio guide, which is called “Chicago for Kids”. It can be downloaded onto an iPod or similar device. And of course you’ll find lots of useful information there, that won’t let you be bored by Chicago.
Las Vegas is often called “Disneyland for adults”.

However there is no end of activities, provided for kids. So if you plan to stay in Las Vegas for a couple of days, then first you should have the sheer wonder of just wandering around the Strip. There also are the gardens at the Flamingo, the Fountains at Ballagio, and the high-flying Circus acts at Circus Circus. Don’t miss a chance to visit M&M’s World at the Showcase Mall, Mount Charleston, the MGM Grand Lion Habitat and the Secret Garden And Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage. Besides there is a fun children’s park at Town Square.

Do you want to spend a great beach vacation with your kids? If the answer is “yes”, then Florida is the best choice for you. Florida is known for its fabulous beaches, which is only one reason it’s such a favorite family destination. You’ll find the most popular kid friendly beaches of Florida below.

Destin

If you dream about white sandy beaches and emerald green water, then the Destin is your destination. It’s a quiet, family-oriented community. So you can enjoy a relaxing time building sandcastles and splashing in the emerald green surf.

Sanibel, Captiva

Casa Ybel resort lies off the mainstream path along the shell-studded natural beaches of Florida’s Sanibel Island. In fact, the beach is literally covered in shells. So if you want to add a perfect shell to your collection then this place is the best place for you. While in operation since the turn of the century, a modern and renovated Casa Ybel offers adults a place to “get away from it all”. And for the kids plenty of adventure is offered. Actually the Casa Kids Club is ready to welcome the kids whose ages are from 4 to 11. The three-hour daily program consists of indoor and outdoor games and the variety of craft projects. Swimming and other activities are sometimes available. But it depends on the ages and abilities of the children in attendance on any given day.

Clearwater

White beaches and clear gulf water gave the name for this place. Your kids will have a chance to to sail on a real pirate ship aboard Captain Memo’s Pirate cruise here. A relaxing family beach vacation in Clearwater can be also filled with theme park fun. Busch Gardens Adventure Park is just across the bay in Tampa, and all the theme park thrills of Orlando are only 2-1/2 hours away.

Siesta Key

Siesta Key is located in kid-friendly Sarasota, Florida. It’s “whitest and finest sand in the world” is extremely popular. It is made of 99% quartz and is cool on little feet no matter what the air temperature. This sand is great for making sand castles. With it’s year round lifeguard protection and shallow water, it’s one of the safest beaches for small children. Nearby Marina Jacks, a playground with splash fountains, along with O’leary’s Tiki Bar & Grill, and water sport rentals.

Daytona

Actually Daytona is great place for a spending a vacation with tweens and teens. Lots of activity going on here right at the beach. The boardwalk is fun for all ages with shops, arcades and amusements on a pier that stretches out into the ocean. Cars are allowed to drive on the beach for a fee. Besides surfing is very popular here.

Cheeca Lodge – Islamorada

Islamorada offers luxury accommodations and plenty of activities for every age. This place provides your kids with a half day of fun activities that include fishing off Cheeca’s pier, arts and crafts, lagoon swimming and snorkeling, scavenger hunts, hermit crab races, sand sculptures and beach exploration. All these funny activities are avaliable for children ages 5 and up.

A beach vacation can be really an unforgetable one. However if you are planning a beach vacation for the whole family, then you should look for a resort that covers to a broad range of needs, especially for kids. The majority of resorts are happy to accommodate kids. But some offer programs and activities for children of different age groups.

If you want your beach vacatioon to be the best one, then here are some helpful tips for you. Remember: you should look for resorts that include a lot of extras in the price, such as:

First of all a premium location directly on the beach, or complimentary shuttle to a nearby safe and clean beach are definitely necessary.

Special suites or other room configurations for families. They can include foldout or pull-out beds and easy access to activities.

What about food? All-inclusive resorts will offer all meals and drinks as part of the price of your stay. Menus and restaurants that cater to kids’ tastes, such as hotdogs and ice cream will be very convenient.

At the beach resorts there should be sports and activities for the age groups of your kids. Many resorts have kids’ clubs that keep your kids involved and having fun all day long.

May be you would like to be involved in some family activities.

Pool areas. There can be even rivers, fountains and waterslides

Babysitting. It can be very helpful especially in the evenings when the two of you (adults) would like to enjoy an adults only dinner without kids.

And some words about safety. Don’t forget to check into the safety precautions and layout of the resort. Because some destinations are far more kid-friendly than others. And depending on the age of your children, different types of beaches may be more appropriate. For example, teenagers may want large waves and slightly rougher water for trying out surfing, sailing or windsurfing. However for young children and toddlers you should look for a quiet and calm beach.

Nowadays modern cruise lines (Disney, Carnival and Celebrity) make a special effort to be kid-compatible. They have child-centric activities available many hours of the day. They also have supervised play areas where kids can play.

Keep in mind that most cruises don’t provide activities for kids under the age of 4. Moreover, the kids won’t be allowed in any pool unless they are toilet trained.

The guard rails on most ships are not designed to be child safe. Unlike Disneyland where guard rails are vertical and less than six inches apart, nothing separates toddlers from the sea on a cruise ship except widely spaced horizontal bars.

Babies under the age of 1 year may almost be cruise-compatible, if they sleep easily and are generally even tempered. Cruise ship cabins are small. And a crying baby may create a great deal of discomfort for parents and fellow travelers who have paid hundreds or thousands for the perfect vacation. The stress of trying to keep an unhappy child quiet may not be the most restful vacation for mom.
It’ll be a perfect vacation for every member of your family, if you travel with five to twenty of your closest relatives, kids included. There’s always someone to hang out with and stuff to do. Kids and adults can mingle freely. Everyone has their own cabin to retire to and no one has to clean up.
But it can be difficult if a small family takes a cruise and there are fewer adults than children. A mother and father, taking care of three young kids can have a tough time keeping everyone happy and well cared for. Remember, that a cruise ship requires constant monitoring of children in order to keep them safe and happy. So if parents have a chance to take along an extra adult oreven two, they may have a great time.

No doubt that every family should take a cruise with kids, because it is the unforgetable adventure of a lifetime. You’ll be surprised, when you find out what an amount of information your children can learn every time you go ashore. You’ll certainly love the relaxed days you can spend playing on the ship.

However if you have children under the age of 4, think twice before taking a cruise. If you have more young children than adults in your traveling party or can’t afford to get a family cabin or connecting cabins, you may want to hold off taking your cruise for a year or two. It’ll be really a good idea!

Surely the family skiing is something very special. If you go skiing with young kids, then you’ll give them the gift of learning early. But if you have a chance to travel to the skiing resorts with older kids, then you’ll spend an unforgetable time together. Anyway, you’ll get not only fun but pleasant memories.

Nowadays practically all ski resorts welcome families with kids. They are ready to offer kids’ programs and ski and snowboard schools. Many ski resorts prepair special opportunities, such as child-care centers, nurseries, and cool programs for teens.

First of all you should decide where to go. For example, Colorado’s ski destinations are legendary. Utah’s motto and Smuggler’s Notch (in Vermont) are also great places to go skiing.

But quite often the families with children prefer to go local. So if there’s a ski resort in driving distance, then it’s a good idea to load up the gear and head for the hills.

You should also keep in mind while choosing a family ski resort that sometimes non-celebrity places can be perfect ones for families. There you can get uncrowded slopes, lower prices, manageable size, friendly ambiance.

Family Skiing

Anyway you should keep in mind that skiing is just basically expensive, given the cost of gear plus lift tickets, not to mention travel to, and lodgings near, the slopes. So plan you budget carefully before the trip.

And please, don’t waste time while spending your vacation at the skiing resorts. It’s amazing how much time we can waste getting onto the slopes. Just look for the “ski in/ski out”, because it’s a lovely convenience, when kids can put their gear on right outside your lodgings, and zip to the lifts — and also a major time-saver.

If you’re renting gear, then try to do the actual rental the night before you want to hit the slopes. Keep in mind that rental shops are busy in the morning, and the process of getting a family fitted with boots, skis, boards, helmet, can eat up prime time.

It’s very convenient to get gear and clothing fully organized the night before, because suiting up with kids can take an incredible amount of time

It’s a good idea to look for “Fresh Tracks” programs, that provide access to the mountain early in the morning. Remember to book kids programs in advance, at popular spots

So if you really want convenience, then you should stay at a resort with a “ski concierge” (for example, Four Seasons Resort Whistler)

Here are some practical tips on the slopes with kids.

Please, dress in layers, because the temperatures on the mountain heat up and chill down fast.

If the members of your family don’t have cell phones, then don’t forget to buy a “family radio set” to communicate and meet up on the slopes.

Also it’s very important to agree in advance on a place to meet if you get separated

Remember that kids should know how their bindings work. And of course kids should be able to recognize mountain patrol staff and volunteers.

If you go skiing with small children, then you should ask for assistance on lifts. For older kids skiing or ‘boarding on their own: never go out of bounds.

So if you’ve decided the place to go to, loaded up the gear, got your child acquainted with rules then you are ready for the trip to the ski resort! Be careful and have fun!

Nowadays more and more women want to be part of the professional world, but also be with their children. Moreover an increasing number of male and female employees require time for child and (or) elder care.

All these people want to find that will allow to work on a reduced schedule. Also many employees want to establish a balance so they can enjoy their leisure time as well. So whether you want to spend more time with a your young children, take care of a sick parent, or pleasant leasure time, you should find a company that respects your priorities.

Let’s talk about what the family friendly company actually is. In simple words, it is an organization that helps its employees to manage the demands of both work and home.

We offer you some questions that you can ask during the interview.

1. First of all, ask what health benefits are offered.

· Does the company offer medical, dental and vision benefits?

· What about wellness? A small company may not be able to afford to build a state of the art fitness facility on its premises, but it probably can offer a YMCA membership.

· Are there any childcare resources?

· What about elder care?

If the company offers you all these benefits, then it is an indication that the company recognizes that you’ve got other concerns, and really wants to help you.
2. Then make that there are flexible schedules offered and used in the company you are going to choose. Look for telecommuting, flex time, job sharing or compressed workweeks. This is a tricky one, because while companies may offer these benefits, the culture may still be one where no one dares to use them. So again, I want to underline that you should make sure that they are really used. Ask, please, by how many people they are used? And in what positions?
3. Ask, whether the company offers individual solutions or not. Consistently working with employees to find solutions that address individual issues is an excellent sign of a family friendly company.
4. It is important to know is the culture results oriented. Is the emphasis on results or on time spent in the office?
5. And the last but not the list is the question: can your career still advance?

Before starting working, it is important to know, if you begin a flexible work schedule, can you still progress up the ladder at the same pace as someone who works a traditional schedule.

So try to observe all these five areas of what a company says it offers, really offers and what happens to employees who accept those offers carefully. Then you can get quite a good idea if a company will truly value you and your work life balance.
